This week I purchased my first electric guitar to add to my collection of musical instruments. It's nothing special - cheap and second hand, but I decided to add this sound to my palette after working on some recordings recently as Paper Relics (with my brother Stuart, a guitarist).

Somehow I've been able to produce Ambient music for many years without what many artists consider to be a staple in the studio. My first couple of hours recording cemented in my mind why this is so, as I found the tones from the guitar when treated with effects are just perfect for creating beautiful, sleepy drones.

The Night Spheres EP is the first session I've spent using what will surely become a prominent feature in future recordings and was recorded and arranged in the afternoon of Tuesday 21st of November 2017, a day off.

I don't get many days off in the year to hit record as I'm either working or organising my label Whitelabrecs. Whilst created during the day, these short tracks have a nocturnal feel to them which is perfectly captured in Peter Nejedly's photography. The idea behind the EP is to provide a brief, restorative listening space, to savour the dying moments of a day before another should hopefully follow.
